It wasn't intended to, it was originally up to the minute, and checked every 5 minutes for changes.

It was a prototype developed for backstage.bbc.co.uk that got moved in-house, but I don't know if there is anybody still looking after it - and I doubt very much it will survive when the BBC switches to the new personalised web 2.0-ish homepage they are currently testing</description>
